The lab was established in 2005. Over the last several years such new organisms as emerald ash borer, Ussuryysky polygraph , Phyllonorycter robiniella, Phyllonorycter issikii and others have been found in Russian forests New tree pest and disease Russian territory infestation process will grow.

In this regard key goals of the lab are:

• Identification of new invasive organisms hazardous for tree and brush woods
• Study of their occurrence across the country territory and their biology specifics in new habitats
• Development of recommendations to protect tree species against invasive organisms
