VII International Symposium "EU-RUSSIA: Cooperation in Biotechnology, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries & Food" (31 May – 1 June, 2012, Moscow)
VII International Symposium held May 31 – June 1, 2012 the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). The event was organized by the European Commission were made by the EC Directorate General for International Cooperation (Directorate "D") and the EC Directorate General for Biotechnology, Agriculture and Food (Directorate "E").
At the symposium were: Head of the EC Directorate General for Biotechnology Biotechnology Agriculture and Food A. Aguilyar, the Russian representative of the European Union, Russia A. Bezlepkina, director of innovation, the European Chemical Industry Council E. D'Huk, a member of the Federal Council on bioeconomy Republic of Germany K. Paterman who shared best practices, and also raised concerns slowed the development of bioeconomy in Europe, now because of the financial crisis the European Union is on the 4th place on the value of financial investments in science and innovation after the U.S., Japan, South Korea. The European Union plans to increase 2020 funding for science and innovation in the bioeconomy to figures €4.6 billion per year – 140% more than in 2012.
The section on "Forestry" was heard 10 presentations. The symposium was attended by members of the Institute: Yuri Gninenko, Vladimir Pankov and Andrey Zhidkov.
